Alexis has been talking about it all week, and asking if it was time to go to the patch. Today was the day, so we loaded up and headed over to KFUMC‘s pumpkin patch. Of course the minute we got there, no one wanted to smile or have a good time. I tried to get pictures out of the way first, so then we could get to the important business: picking out pumpkins. The kids did good, they picked out lots of little ones, and two big ones. Then we headed over to the pumpkin carving to decorate them. A fun afternoon with beautiful weather. :)

I love this one, I will always laugh when I see it. This is what happens when one doesn’t nap, and you wake the other one up from their nap and set them both on a hay bale. I’m glad I don’t have any expectations for smiles really, I’m just glad they sat still :)

It was a really quick trip, 29 hours total, with 9-10 of those in the car. I wish we had stayed another night, but we didn’t know we’d have to high-tail it out of there from the party. Adrian had a pirate party at the Lone Star Bounce House – and this place was awesome. It was really bright and clean, with lots of bounce houses and a huge double Cars slide. The kids had tons of fun, then melted down after cake. Actually, Alexis did really well, and didn’t whine or fuss – she just stayed quiet. We left from the place because everyone needed naps and by the time they were done, we would have needed to head home. Next time we’ll stay longer, but I’m glad we got to go. Happy birthday Adrian!

Our kids love swimming, and Noah was put into their pool when he was two months old. Alexis loves to jump in, and Noah loves to visit the “waterfall” and put his head back in it. I’m sure the pool at Mimi and Grandaddy’s will be something my kids remember growing up with.

I’ve posted pictures of the kids playing before, but it really never gets old seeing their faces when playing in the water, and I love how the camera captures the spray and jets. I wanted to post pictures with Adrian in them – Alexis loves to play with her cousin, and though we see them more than we did, when they come down, those are valuable moments. Adding Mochel and Maxwell into the mix is just icing on the cake!

Most kids her age have hair long enough to at least put in a ponytail, but not Alexis. We do hair clips, her teachers do little pigtails (my favorite), but that’s about it! It was getting long enough to get into her face, though, so we decided it was time for her first haircut. Mimi volunteered to do the honors – she has experience with Noah after all. She was careful to get enough for me to save, and cut it just a little short in the front! Thanks for taking it on, Mimi! We have video of Alexis’ first haircut, and video of Noah’s third. I’m sure one day soon Alexis’ hair will just take off and we’ll feel like we’re cutting it all the time. Until then, we’ll settle for an occasional Mimi cut!

It sounds more important that way. Noah has gotten big enough to where he wants me to put him down so he can walk inside (and out to the car) all by himself. He gets distracted by rocks, and railings to swing on, and other children, but we eventually make it either in or out. One morning I asked Alexis if she could help Noah and hold his hand while they walked in. She was feeling accommodating that morning, so she did, and he let her. Now it’s sort of their ritual, walking slowly hand in hand (or hand in arm) in to ‘school.’  As a mommy, my heart melts, and I got some video of it this morning. There aren’t any words, just pure cuteness. Enjoy!

I’ve gotten a few bath sessions with Noah, so I thought I should get some with both of them. Alexis hardly sits still or lets me have any time to pick up the camera, so it was fun to get some of her too. My kids still love their bath, and after they get out, they love to run around the house naked. We call it “nakie baby.” Alexis tells us she wants to do “nakie baby,” and now Noah is old enough to join in on the fun!

He had been battling cancer for several years, and lost shortly before July 4th. We hardly ever get the opportunity to get up to see my aunt, so it was nice to go visit her. We got to do a small bit of sight-seeing while we were there. We got to visit her first appointment (she’s a Methodist pastor), and we went to DC for an hour or two. It was a really nice trip – the circumstances were not good, but I came back rested and renewed. Just getting to sit on her deck for a couple of hours at a time was such a gift.
